How Anthony Joshua Almost Fought Two Klitschkos in One Night
The newly crowned king of heavyweight boxing, Anthony Joshua, is by all accounts a hardworking, humble and loving family man who still lives at home with his mother in a former council flat. However, he is a “nasty, horrible man” when he sets foot inside a boxing ring, according to boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
Just after putting an end to his bout with Wladimir Klitschko in the eleventh round in front of 90,000 screaming fans at Wembley Arena, Joshua apparently almost came to blows with Vitali Klitschko, his opponent’s brother.
While comforting the former champion in the ring after his shock knockout loss in what is sure to be an instant classic in the years to come, Joshua apparently had a bit of a run in with Vitali.
“He [Joshua] will learn [from the fight]. There were little things, in the ring before the fight Vitali was staring at him, then he started staring at Vitali and all that’s designed to do is use up energy. You’re just using up emotions and he’ll learn from that,” Hearn said during an interview with Boxing News Online.
“Once he’s in that mode, he’s a nasty, horrible man in that ring. Outside the ring, one of the nicest guys you could meet, inside it – horrible. He and Vitali nearly came to blows after the fight. He went over to Wladimir and thanked him and Josh was tired and he went on and on, ‘seriously man,’ talking about the fight, and Vitali was like ‘alright, alright’ [Hearn stretches his arm across as if pushing someone away] and Josh was like ‘f*** you.’ But Vitali can handle himself, he’s not exactly a pushover.”
It’s unlikely we’ll see Vitali step up to fight Joshua in any way, shape or form, considering he’s now the mayor of Kiev, but we may see Wladimir face Joshua once more later this year, with the option of a rematch between the two heavyweights looming on the horizon.
Do you think we could see Joshua vs Klitschko happen all over again? Check out the knock out and let us know in the comments!
