Conor McGregor Continues To Live It Up In Ibiza After Mayweather Loss

He may have lost his professional boxing debut to Floyd “Money Mayweather, but UFC lightweight star Conor McGregor has been making waves of a different sort during a well-deserved vacation in Ibiza, Spain.

The mixed martial arts superstar took on Mayweather in Mayweather’s fiftieth professional bout, suffering a TKO loss to the veteran boxer in the tenth round after losing steam after a whirlwind of activity in the opening rounds. McGregor had looked to stop Mayweather early in the bout but was unsuccessful in landing any that significantly turned the tide in his favour.

Eventually, Mayweather began to steamroll ahead, outpacing his foe before the referee was forced to call a stop to the contest when McGregor could no longer defend himself effectively.

That all seems to be in the rear view mirror now for Irishman, who rented a lavish villa in Ibiza for a close friend’s wedding and had been living it up since his arrival on the Spanish island. He is believed to have taken home over $100 million for his bout with Mayweather, so it seems like there’s no great rush for the man known as “Mystic Mac” to return to the octagon, or the ring, just yet, with his coach John Kavanagh saying that a return to combat sports before 2018 would be unlikely.

McGregor has however alluded to another rematch with his lightweight rival Nate Diaz, who he has fought twice before, losing the first bout by rear naked choke in the second round and taking home a decision victory in the second. McGregor hinted at the possible rematch in an Instagram post captioned: “Oy mate, don’t get fat yet. You’ve got to fight Diaz one more time!”

Of course, a rematch of such magnitude would bring in huge amounts of money for both Diaz and McGregor, as well as the UFC. Whether or not the bout will happen next is anyone’s guess, with lightweight contenders Kevin Lee and Tony Ferguson set to square off soon to decide who will face McGregor next when he makes his much-awaited return to the octagon and the lightweight division. Until then, we think he’ll be making the most of his holiday time!
