Conor McGregor Shows No Signs Of Remorse For Marc Goddard Attack
Despite the fact that he hasn’t had a professional mixed martial arts fight in a year, The Notorious simply cannot keep himself out of the news.
Conor McGregor’s latest antics took place at Bellator 187 in Dublin, Ireland, after he leapt over the cage to celebrate with team-mate Charlie Ward following Ward’s first-round knockout over John Redmond.
After being told to leave the ring by security, the Irishman furiously charged towards referee Marc Goddard and shoved him before hurling abuse at him.
McGregor – who wasn’t an official cornerman – was eventually removed from the Octagon by security but he continued to give the ref a spray and could be heard yelling: “I’m sick of you! That was a fu*king stoppage!”
He then leapt onto the cage to celebrate again and when Goddard attempted to get him down, McGregor seemed to punch him in retaliation.
With talk of McGregor facing a ban for his insane actions, the 29-year-old has shown that he has no remorse. Speaking of the incident, he had this to say:
“I was still trying to say, ‘Keep going,’ and it’s that same referee [Marc Goddard] who I lost my head with [at UFC Gdansk]. I said, ‘It’s you, you rat.’ He nearly fu*king crapped his jocks.”
McGregor was evidently upset with how referee Goddard handled the stoppage.
He added: “Oh, it was a beautiful shot [from Charlie Ward]. [John Redmond’s] out cold, we all knew he was out cold and he’s still trying to call it: ‘Oh no, he wasn’t the fight’s not over.’ I said, ‘It’s you, you rat. I see you.’”
Goddard broke his silence with regards to the incident but didn’t address McGregor directly.
He tweeted: “I operate with integrity, belief and values. I hold MMA in a deep-rooted place in my life and have considered myself most fortunate to have done so for so long. Family first. Everything else second. Respect.”
This isn’t the first time that this pair have had a run-in: last month at UFC Fight Night 118, Goddard ordered McGregor to go and take a seat after he began to act as his teammate Artem Lobov’s unofficial cornerman in his fight against Andre Fili.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
