Dana White Calls out Bob Arum and Jeff Mayweather

UFC president Dana White has gone off on Jeff Mayweather and Bob Arum at the post-fight press conference for UFC 210.

In the past, White was more than a little sheepish at the prospect of UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor facing off against veteran boxer Floyd Mayweather, but now he seems to have changed his tune and thrown his support behind the potential matchup.

Recently both Floyd Mayweather’s uncle, Jeff Mayweather, and famous boxing promoter Bob Arum have claimed that the UFC is requesting 50% of McGregor’s paycheck in exchange for letting him fight Mayweather. White has refuted those claims, saying that neither of them has any idea of the negotiations McGregor is currently in with the UFC.

“What I would like to clarify is all the bullsh*t about the 80 f*cking 20 split,” fumed White at the post-fight press conference. “Jeff Mayweather? Come on, Jeff. Me and Jeff go way back. Jeff, are you the spokesmen now for f*cking Team Mayweather? And Bob Arum? You piece of sh*t. F*ck you, too. What do they know about this fight? You want to know what they know about this fight? Nothing.”

White later confirmed he would be talking with McGregor in New York after the birth of his son in late April or early May. McGregor has previously said he will not take any fights until after his child is born.

“After Conor has his baby, Conor and I are going to meet in New York,” said White. “We’re not close (to a deal). I see this fight happening. Conor wants it and Floyd wants it. I’ve said many times, Conor has done a lot. He’s stepped up for the big fights for this company and for me and for Lorenzo (Fertitta), I can’t deny him this fight.”

As for where the fight negotiations are up to, it’s anyone’s guess right now. White has said he thinks the fight will take place but has no idea when despite the fact that a date in September has been floated as a possible time for the two to face off.

“The longer it takes for us to come to an agreement, I think the longer it’s going to take to negotiate with the Mayweather team,” he said. “Listen, everything I say is going to come off bias because he’s my guy but you guys judge. Is Conor McGregor not a massive star? This fight here, Floyd doesn’t make this kind of money either without Conor so Conor is just as important as Floyd when it comes to this fight.’”
