Fat Joe Tells Incredible Mike Tyson Story: ‘We About To Get Knocked Out’
It doesn’t take much to make a great story, you kind of just have to be in the right place at the right time. Sometimes you get lucky and the weirdest things happen. Fat Joe along with his old friend who has since passed away, Pun, were out enjoying the New York City nightlife when they decided to hit up The Tunnel, a fairly famous club up there.
This was back when Pun’s career was at it’s height and neither of the two were unrecognizable by any means, but the bouncers apparently didn’t know that and a confrontation began.
Fat Joe tells us how the bouncers were gathered around, talking trash about Pun’s mother. You don’t talk about a stranger’s mother. You generally don’t want to talk about anyone’s mom, especially when you don’t know a thing about the woman, but that didn’t stop this group of “badass” bouncers. Pun and Joe knew what was going to happen.
They weren’t going to stand aside and allow someone to disrespect the most important women in their lives, but there was a simple fact that they were severely outnumbered. Eight of the ten bouncers were ready to throw down, when out of nowhere Joe hears something from behind them…
“Out of nowhere, we hear this voice go ‘Yo Pun, Yo Joe, let’s F these dudes up, I got your back’. We turn around and it’s Iron Mike Tyson. 2:30 in the morning with the cuffie on, fresh outta jail, had the suit on and he starts taking off his shoes. It was a blessing, Allah sent us a blessing. I turn around and everyone is like oh my God.”
If there was ever a sign from whatever deity you believe in that you shouldn’t fight, it’s Mike Tyson showing up ready to throw down. There’s not a single person I know who would stick around for that brawl, if only for the pure history Tyson brings with him. To Joe and Pun, he was a definite savior!
