Krav Maga Expert Uses His Skills To End Knife-Wielding Terrorist’s Savage Attack
With more and more modern day terrorists forgoing bombs for low-tech methods of attack such as knives, guns, and even vehicles, we are seeing an upsurge in people with martial arts training stepping into harms way in order to save lives, as can be seen in this incredible clip from 2015.
In it, a Krav Maga expert single-handedly brings an end to a knife-wielding terrorist’s horrendous stabbing rampage in Rishon Lezion, south of Tel Aviv.
Kfir Itzhaki is a Sergeant First Class in the Israeli Defense Forces elite counter-terrorism unit who also happens to be a former Krav Maga instructor.
He was in his car near the central bus station in Rishon Lezion when he saw a situation unfolding that would have caused most people to get the fu*k out of the area as quickly as possible.
Instead, Itzhaki got out of his car and located a 19-year-old man with a knife who was chasing down people down and stabbing them indiscriminately.
Although completely unarmed (except for his Krav Maga skills), Itzhaki began chasing the terrorist down the street. CCTV from the area shows the shocking moment that an 80-year-old woman was stabbed in the back just a few metres from Itzhaki.
Desperate to intervene, the self-defence expert caught up to the rampaging maniac and shouted at him, which caused him to turn around.
Itzhaki’s training kicked in and he push-kicked the terrorist, sending him flying backwards. He was able to disarm him and choke him unconscious by pulling off a rear-naked choke.
Israeli Police later awarded Itzhaki with a medal of honour for his bravery in the face of such chaos.
Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forcess. It consists of a combination of Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Jiu Jutsu, Aikido, Judo, along with realistic fight training. It focuses on real-world situations, extreme efficiency, and brutal counter-atttacks. Krav Maga originated from the street-fighting experience of Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who used his training as a boxer and wrestler to defend the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia in the 1930’s.
