Lesnar’s Coach Makes Huge Claim About Fighting Mark Hunt
Former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Rodrigo “Comprido” Medeiros has predicted that Brock Lesnar will beat Mark Hunt on the ground at UFC 200.
Comprido coached Lesnar for years and has returned to that role in the run-up to the former heavyweight world champion’s showdown with the heavy hitting Hunt.
Medeiros has recently promoted Lesnar to blue belt and thinks that the WWE superstar can “smash” Hunt when the pair grapple.
On top of this, Comprido has confidently stated that Lesnar can match anyone on the ground. “Brock can fight a black belt on the ground, ” he recently told Guilherme Cruz.
“[Lesnar] had a constant evolution on the ground because he has practiced it for years. He wrestled since he was five years old, and he’s 38 now. Everything I teach him, he absorbs quickly.”
Lesnar is returning to The Octagon for UFC 200 on July 9th after nearly five years away from the sport and is keen to get back to his winning ways after losing his last two UFC bouts.
Standing in his way is Mark Hunt, fan favourite, and king of the walk-off knockout.
Medeiros sees his man winning the match by submission but warns fans not to underestimate Lesnar’s stand-up striking, too.
“I see him winning on the ground, by submission, but anything can happen, ” he opined.
“Mark Hunt is one of the best strikers in the UFC, but Brock has heavy hands, too. A grappler like Brock, if one hand lands clean, he can knock you out, or Mark Hunt can get a good position on the ground and submit him. Logic says that Mark Hunt has the advantage standing, and Brock’s advantage is on the ground, but we’ve seen many times that anything can happen.”
Whether the fight gets taken to the ground or ends up being a stand-up slugfest, fans of both men will be expecting their fighter to come away victorious on July 9th. But as Comprido noted, once these heavyweights step into the cage, anything can happen…
