MMA Fighter Punches Ring Girl In The Face After Losing Match

When entering the Octagon, fighters are always told to “Protect yourself at all times” but no one told the ring girls that that rule should apply to them too…

At the recent Titan FC 42 event in Florida, four title fights took place but it was the aftermath of one of those that had people talking. American Andrew ‘The Beast’ Whitney (14-5) narrowly lost his bantamweight title match against Kyrgyzstan-born Farkhad Sharipov and his response sent one of the ring girls flying.

Upon hearing that he had narrowly lost the five-round title fight, Whitney spun around and punched the air in disappointment. Only, he didn’t punch the air, he punched a ring girl square on the chops!

It was obviously an accident and you can see that Whitney feels terrible; he immediately steadies the ring girl and checks to see if she is OK. Still, he must have felt like a right dick!

Prior to this bout, Whitney was on a four fight winning streak so having that come to an end must have been annoying, as would missing out on the bantamweight strap and the chance at catching the eyes of some of the bigger promotions but come on, man!

Who here has accidentally punched someone in the face before? It’s such a dumb thing to do that it’s almost impressive. Whitney should really work on his spatial awareness if he wants to progress in the fight game.

His opponent, Farkhad Sharipo, won the bantamweight title and improved his record to 17-7. The Kyrgyzstani has a reputation for his fights going the distance; 19 of his 24 professional bouts have done so (with Sharipov getting the decision on 12 of those occasions). Still, I’m betting he never saw a response like this in any of those previous 18 fights!

The ring girl was reportedly fine after this crazy incident. Still, I bet she protects herself at all times the next time she steps inside the Octagon!
