WATCH: Dolph Lundgren To Reprise Role As Ivan Drago Once More

The Rocky series is iconic, one of the most well known and loved sports movie franchises the world has ever known. Fans were delighted when the newest film in the series, Creed, dropped in 2015. Starring Michael B Jordan as Adonis Creed, the son of the titular Rocky Balboa’s rival Apollo Creed, the film saw Balboa coaching his former opponent’s son to great heights. The film even scored 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, the internet’s review aggregator, so you know it was definitely half decent, at least compared to the trainwreck that was Rocky V.

With one of the biggest fights in the world, UFC lightweight Conor McGregor vs Floyd “Money” Mayweather set to take place on Sunday, it’s only right that we catch up on what’s happening in the world of Dolph Lundgren, who is set to be getting his body back in shape for the filming of Creed 2.

Sylvester Stallone has been posting throwbacks all week to the days when he played Rocky, and we can only wonder what might happen when his character finally meets face to face with Lundgren’s character, Ivan Drago, the Russian science experiment who sent Rocky home with a huge amount of damage.

Lundgren looks to have been training pretty hard, showing he’s still in good shape while lifting weights and working on his punches in the Instagram video you’re about to see. “Getting ready for something big!” reads the caption of the post, and you can bet he’s going to be in crazy shape by the time shooting begins.

The battle continues in one way or another…#creed#rockybalboa.1976#ivandrago

Stallone finished up writing the script in late July, so we’re unsure as to when the film will be out, but NME believes it should be out sometime around 2019 or 2020.

The film is definitely set to be an intense one. The return of Ivan Drago will certainly ignite a fire under Adonis Creed, whose father was killed by Drago in the ring at the beginning of Rocky IV. If you hadn’t seen that and it was just spoiled for you, then you have no one to blame but yourself because everyone should have seen the Rocky series at least once in their lives.

We’re hoping fans will get to see Balboa land a final crack on Drago, given the fact he killed Balboa’s best friend in the world right in front of his eyes? We might even get to hear Drago’s classic line, “If he dies, he dies,” one more time.

Only time will tell. Check out the video of Lundgren getting ready to shoot Creed 2 below and let us know what you think!

Getting ready for something big! 👊 @officialslystallone #Creed2 #IvanDrago
